Weekend itinerary

Woodstock from Friday dinner to Sunday coffee

Walk the Green and Middle Bridge Friday, give Saturday to Billings Farm and Mount Tom, then finish with a village breakfast before the drive home.

By Cal Mercer — a Second Star Guide itinerary

Woodstock unfolds in short distances: village streets first, farm and hillside next, then one quiet final morning.

Best length

2 nights

Two nights leave Friday for the village, Saturday for the farm and hill, and Sunday for breakfast before checkout.

Stay

The Shire Woodstock

A well-run village stay with river views, landscaping, and easy walkability to town.

Main activity

Billings Farm, Mount Tom, and the village

Billings Farm takes 2–3 hours; pair it with one Mount Tom walk rather than another long drive.

Pace

Village Friday, farm-and-hill Saturday

One museum, one walk, and one reserved dinner are enough for the full Saturday.

Keep Sunday to coffee, one bridge or country-road stop, and the drive home.

Friday

Cross Middle Bridge before dinner.

Check in, circle the Village Green, cross Middle Bridge over the Ottauquechee, and keep the first dinner within walking distance if your room is in town.

Saturday

Billings Farm in the morning, Mount Tom after lunch.

Give Billings Farm & Museum two or three hours, return to the village for lunch, then use Faulkner Park for a Mount Tom walk before the dinner reservation.

4:30 PM

Afternoon

Walk from Faulkner Park toward Mount Tom.

Choose a route that matches daylight and trail conditions. The park-to-hillside transition adds woods and a valley view without consuming the entire afternoon.

Sunday

Coffee on the Green, then one final stop.

Start at Dreamscape or another village breakfast stop. Choose a last bridge, shop, or Quechee Gorge overlook only if it lies naturally on the drive home.
